Almond Alliance of California et al v Fish and Game Commission et al, Court of Appeal of the State of California, Third Appellate District (Sacramento), C093542 - bees are "fish" for purposes of the state's endangered species Act. While "commonly understood" that a fish "lives in aquatic environments," "terrestrial invertebrate[s]," including bumble bees, qualify legally.
