• Twitter in court over 'venomous tweets' An Australian firm has taken Twitter to court after confidential financial information was leaked in a series of "venomous tweets" by someone impersonating the firm's CEO and another senior officer.

• Major family law review receives backing from LCA Mr Brandis revealed law week he has commissioned the Australian Law Reform Commission (ALRC) to undertake the “first comprehensive review of the family law system since the commencement of the Family Law in 1976”. The significant review into Australia’s family law system has gathered support from the nation’s peak legal body.

• Indigenous groups renew call for target to reduce incarceration Indigenous groups have renewed calls for the creation of an Indigenous incarceration reduction target, after a leaked letter showed the government is just weeks away from going public with a refresh of its failing Closing the Gap strategy.

• Silk replaces outgoing NSW District Court judge Barrister Tim Gartelmann SC has been named as the next appointment to the NSW District Court, following the retirement of Judge Martin Sides QC.

• Malcolm Roberts signed citizenship form without reading it, High Court hears Under questioning from counsel assisting the court, Senator Roberts said his father had given him an Australian citizenship form in 1974 which his then-16-year-old sister filled out and he signed without reading.

It's a gift from the entrance gods - the access door to the NSW Bar Association has been opened for a trial period. No more long queues for the elevator to ascend from or descend to the depths from the outside world - you may now take the stairs to the Bar Association, the library or wherever else you might like to go!

• Motor Accidents (Determination of Non-Economic Loss) Amendment Order 2017 (NSW) The object of this Order is to adjust, for the year commencing 1 October 2017, the maximum amounts that may be awarded for damages for non-economic loss to persons who have been injured as a consequence of a motor accident to which the Motor Accidents Act 1988 applies

• Motor Accidents Compensation (Determination of Loss) Amendment Order 2017 (NSW) The object of this Order is to adjust, for the year commencing 1 October 2017, the maximum amount that may be awarded for damages. Section 146 of the Motor Accidents Compensation Act 1999 requires the Minister to declare the amounts on or before 1 October in each year. The amounts are indexed by reference to movements in average weekly earnings.

• Civil Liability (Non-economic Loss) Amendment Order 2017 (NSW) - amendment to the Civil Liability (Non-economic Loss) Order 2010 to adjust, for the year commencing 1 October 2017, the maximum amount that may be awarded for damages for non-economic loss under the Civil Liability Act 2002 (the Act). Section 17 of the Act requires the Minister to declare the amount in each year. The amount is to be indexed by reference to movements in average weekly earnings.

• The ‘internet of things’ is sending us back to the Middle Ages Interesting article for those interested in the intersection of new technology and property / user rights. "A person may purchase a nice-looking box full of electronics that can function as a smartphone, the corporate argument goes, but they buy a license only to use the software inside. The companies say they still own the software, and because they own it, they can control it. It’s as if a car dealer sold a car, but claimed ownership of the motor."

• Bernardi backlash raises $200k for school's Do It In a Dress fundraiser Senator Bernardi tweeted his frustration about a South Australian school's 'Do It In A Dress' fundraising day by tweeting, "This gender morphing is really getting absurd". That tweet prompted a backlash and a flood of donations and in less than 48 hours, the school has hit $200,000.

The Council of Law Reporting's online database (ICLR) will be relaunched tomorrow as ICLR.3. ICLR’s archive of official law reports dating back to 1865 has also been expanded.

The collection has been improved to provide you with greater breadth and depth of case law coverage:

• The Weekly Law Reports have been expanded for the first time since their creation in 1953 to cover a wider range of new case law, making it the most comprehensive and current series of English case law report available anywhere.
• All Judgment transcripts for all cases decided in the Administrative Court and the Court of Appeal (UK) since 1998 will be available alongside our collection of reported case law.
• Case citator information - Citator overviews that can be fully expanded or collapsed out of sight when viewing case report content and can be downloaded and printed as PDFs.

• Sydney man going to court with Mosman Council over ‘ridiculous’ parking fine The man, who wants to remain anonymous, had parked at Balmoral beach early on a damp and foggy morning. Due to the weather there was condensation on the inside of the glass of the parking ticket machine, which meant the display could not be read to purchase a ticket.
